                Hoi allemaal!! 



Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 



Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  



We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 



We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 

We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.

Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 



Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  



We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 



We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 

We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.

Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 



Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  



We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 



We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 

We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.

Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 



Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  



We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 



We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 

We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.

Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 



Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  



We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 



We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 

We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.

Voor mijn masteronderzoek hoop ik op 6 februari voor 3,5 maanden naar Rwanda te gaan. Ik ga onderzoek doen naar 'rural-urban mobility and migration in the Kigali-region'. Klinkt erg ingewikkeld, maar dat valt mee hoor! Ik zal het even kort proberen uit te leggen:) 

Rwanda is een schitterend land ('land van de duizend heuvels') iets onder de evenaar in hartje Afrika, waar meer dan 80 procent van de bevolking op het platteland woont. Er wonen veel te veel mensen op veel te weinig land. Het platteland is dus flink overbevolkt en er is een grote druk op de natuurlijk bronnen, voornamelijk 'land'. In de achterliggende jaren na de vreselijke genocide (1994) zijn er echter steeds meer mensen (meest jonge mannen en soms vrouwen) die vanuit de plattelandsdorpjes naar de stad migreren. Met name vanuit de resettling villages die door de overheid gecreeerd zijn, vind veel migratie plaats naar de stad. Dit omdat die dorpjes voor terugkerende vluchtelingen vaak een slechte infrastructuur en voorzieningen hebben. Er is geen toekomst voor de opgroeiende jeugd. Bovendien zien ze geen heil in het eeuwenoude over-erfsysteem van land, omdat er steeds minder land te verdelen is.  

We gaan onderzoeken wat nu precies de achterliggende redenen zijn van de migratie naar de stad. Wie beslist eigenlijk precies op huishoudensniveau?, welke rol spelen geslacht en generatie in deze besluitvormingsprocessen?, wat is de impact van deze ruraal-urbane migratie op de achtergebleven huishoudens op het platteland (tekort aan arbeidskrachten?/ huishoudensverdeling die drastisch veranderd?/ maar ook 'remittances'/verdiensten, die de migranten terug sturen naar het platteland en die gebruikt worden voor investeringen, etc). Leidt ruraal- urbane migratie tot de verbetering van het levensonderhoud van de mensen op het platteland? Waar komen de migranten terecht in de stad? Wordt hun sociale status beter, of is marginalisatie het gevolg van hun migratie? Allemaal vragen die een rol spelen in ons onderzoek. 

We zullen alledrie een apart onderzoek doen naar een bepaald aspect van het onderwerp. Het onderzoek is een vooronderzoek van een uitgebreid Europees onderzoeksproject in samenwerking met verschillende Europese universiteiten. 
We hopen dat ons onderzoek bijdraagt aan een beter inzicht in de manieren waarop ruraal-urbane migratie zo goed mogelijk kan bijdragen aan armoedevermindering, en aan de promotie van de rechten van arme migranten.
